The shelf-life of leader material varies, but one to two years is the maximum. Exposure to heat, UV rays, sunscreen, bug spray, and natural elements causes them to break down in quality. While fluorocarbon does last longer than nylon, it also becomes cloudy with time, making it far less efficient.
